Accent Reduction
Work to reduce the accent of non-native speakers is not always considered therapy. Therefore, it may not be covered by insurance, which is usually limited to medical speech-language services. Still, an accent can reduce intelligibility and limit the speaker’s ability to communicate appropriately.
A screening test is used to determine whether an individual is likely to benefit from speech exercises Computerized feedback is used to improve intelligibility for speakers of many languages and dialects.
